The company Fanaero-Chile (actually: Fábrica Nacional de Aeronaves de Chile) was founded in 1953 and initially dealt with the conversion of former military Catalina flying boats into passenger planes. In 1955, a two-seat training aircraft, the Fanaero-Chile Chincol, began to be developed for the Chilean Air Force . However, only a prototype of this was built. Due to technical problems, the start of series production was delayed considerably, so that the order for 50 units was canceled by the Chilean Air Force before only a single series aircraft was manufactured. Later work was still carried out on a prototype of a jet aircraft before the company closed in 1960.
