The Moffett Glacier is a 21 km long glacier in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . It flows from the Rawson Plateau in an easterly direction to the Amundsen Glacier , which it reaches south of Mount Benjamin in the Queen Maud Mountains .
The American polar explorer Richard Evelyn Byrd discovered him during his South Pole flight between November 28 and 29, 1929 as part of his first Antarctic expedition (1928–1930). He named the glacier after Rear Admiral William Adger Moffett (1869-1933) of the United States Navy , first head of the Bureau of Aeronautics .
