The Rawson Plateau is an icy high plateau in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . It is 24 km long and 3400 m high between the head ends of the Bowman , Moffett and Steagall glaciers in the Queen Maud Mountains .
The plateau was mapped in the course of the Byrd Antarctic Expedition (1928–1930) and later by the United States Geological Survey based on its own measurements and with the help of aerial photographs of the United States Navy between 1960 and 1964. It is named after Kennett Longley Rawson (1911–1992), a supporter of the Byrd Antarctic Expedition and participant in Byrd's second Antarctic expedition (1933-1935).
