Faraday scales

The Faraday balance , named after Michael Faraday , is used to measure magnetic susceptibility .

For this purpose, the sample is a para- or diamagnetic material in a gradient - magnetic field brought and the power measured with the this sample is drawn from the magnetic field or pushed. In this way, the magnetization can be measured and from this the susceptibility can be determined with the magnetic field :

These scales are used, for example, to measure magnetic properties in the development of superconducting materials.
