Farmington (meteorite)

Farmington is a meteorite that is classified as a stone meteorite of the L5- chondrite type . He fell on June 25, 1890 in Kansas (USA). The mass found was 89.3 kg.

Because of its L-chondrite unusual black color Farmington is one of the so-called black chondrites (Engl. Black chondrites ). It is assumed that such meteorites experienced a strong shock event ( impact , collision). Farmington is also the stone meteorite with the shortest measured radiation age of around 30,000 years.
