Fiber syringes

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fiber spraying is a process for the production of parts from glass fiber reinforced plastics (GRP). Most of the time, a radical curing unsaturated polyester resin is used, which is sprayed onto a mold using the airless method. A cutting unit is attached above the spray gun, through which glass fiber strands called rovings are cut into 5 to 10 cm small glass fiber pieces. The cut glass and the resin are applied to a mold through the spray fan and compressed by hand with a roller and vented before the resin hardens. In the fiber injection process, for example, boat parts are made from GRP.
