Airless

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Airless ( German  airless ) refers to a spray process in which the spray material without air supply through high pressure is atomized and deposited on the surface.

technology

An electrically, pneumatically or by a combustion engine operated pump puts the material under pressure via a hose, trunk or funnel via a membrane or a piston and presses a defined amount of spray material with up to 540 bar from the device through the high pressure hose and the spray gun . There is a nozzle in the gun that ensures the desired atomization when the spray material emerges. A manometer measures the pressure that the machine generates during operation.

Application area

Airless paint spraying devices are used in trade and industry, among others. Classic areas of application are, for example, in the painting trade or in use in metalworking companies or carpenters.

The main advantage of the airless process is the high level of economy due to low personnel costs, the possibility of processing large areas in the shortest possible time and the relatively low consumption of paint, varnish and primer. Particularly rough or structured surfaces, for example textured plaster, can be easily processed - in contrast to processing with classic painting tools.

Disadvantages are: the paint mist formation, as well as the additional work involved in masking the work area and cleaning the devices.

The following materials can be processed with airless paint sprayers:
