Fata Morgana (Polka Mazur)

Fata Morgana is a Polka Mazur by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 330). The work was performed for the first time on March 29, 1869 in the flower room of the Vienna Horticultural Society.

Remarks

The Polka Mazur was composed for Mardi Gras in 1869 and dedicated to the Hesperus artists' association . According to the sources, the world premiere did not take place in Mardi Gras, but only on March 29th on the occasion of Johann Strauss' farewell concert before his upcoming trip to Pavlovsk in Russia. The work was very well received and continues to be performed to this day. In 1899, Adolf Müller used parts of this work in the third act of the operetta Wiener Blut , which he had compiled based on motifs by Johann Strauss (son) (No. 13, Here are arcades ).
