Adolf Müller junior

Adolf Müller junior (born October 15, 1839 in Vienna ; † December 14, 1901 there ), the son of the stage composer Adolf Müller senior , was a Viennese operetta composer and conductor .

Like his father, Müller was Kapellmeister at the Theater an der Wien , but did not mainly compose interludes for plays like that, but mainly operettas , which had gained in importance in the repertoire of the Viennese theaters since the 1860s. Well known in its time, it is as good as forgotten today.

The operetta Wiener Blut (1899), which Müller compiled and arranged from material left behind by Johann Strauss (son) , is still performed today .

Filmed by Hubert Marischka in 1913 with Alexander Girardi , Müller's most successful operetta, The Millionuncle (1892). Robert Stolz wrote a new musical accompaniment for the silent film .

It is also worth mentioning Müller's operetta Des Teufels Weib (1890) based on a text by the journalist and later politician Theodor Herzl .
