Fatima Jinnah (born July 30, 1893 in Karachi ; † July 8, 1967 ibid, Urdu: فاطمہ جناح) was the sister of Muhammad Ali Jinnah (Quaid-i-Azam), the founding father of Pakistan and one of the most influential personalities during the independence movement in British India . Pakistani people usually call her Khatoon-e-Pakistan (Urdu: "Lady of Pakistan") and Madar-e-Millat ("Mother of the Nation").

Life

Jinnah was born in Karachi. From 1919 she studied dentistry in Calcutta . From 1923 she had her own practice in Bombay . She was an influential figure in the independence movement and the main organizer of the All India Muslim Women Students Federation . After the establishment of the state of Pakistan and the death of her brother, she remained politically active.

In 1965 she was a presidential candidate for the Combined Opposition Party (COP). She was considered a favorite, but lost - according to many historians - as a result of election fraud.

Jinnah was politically active until her death in 1967. There are rumors that Muhammad Ayub Khan had them murdered.
