Fausto Cepeda

Fausto Cepeda Bobadilla (born October 20, 1939 in Santo Domingo ) is a Dominican opera singer (baritone).

Life

At the age of fourteen, Cepeda had singing lessons with Fausto Vizcaíno and already performed with the Cuban singer Aidita Artiaga at the Teatro Julia the following year . He then studied with Rafael Sánchez Cestero , Vito Castorini , José Dolores Cerón and Pedro Contín Aybar and at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música with Briseida Corletto , Aura Marina del Rosario Ceballos and Rafael Sánchez Cestero.

In 1963 he made his debut as an opera singer in the role of Alfio in the opera Cavalleria rusticana . He was a director and soloist of the Coro Nacional for 27 years and founded the Compañía Ópera Dominicana . In 1998 Dominican President Leonel Fernández honored him as Gran Caballero of the Orden de Duarte Sánchez y Mella .
