The Feather Bonnet was a headgear worn by the Scottish regiments from the Highlands for the "Full Battle Dress", the parade uniform that was used until the beginning of the First World War . Today it is often worn by the pipers and drummers of the pipe bands ( bagpipe groups).

The Feather Bonnet consists of ostrich feathers that are attached to a support frame made of wire and an adjustable leather strap to adapt to different head sizes and shapes. The bonnet has four tails on the right for crew ranks and five for sergeants and officers. It is worn two fingers' breadth above the bridge of the nose and inclined slightly to the right. The optical effect corresponds to the bearskin hat , both should make the wearer appear larger and more imposing.
