Febreze is an odor neutralizer from the US manufacturer Procter & Gamble . The product has been tested in various market segments since 1996 and has been sold in European and North American retail outlets since June 1998 . The range includes room sprays, textile fresheners, fragrance displays, fragrance plugs and scented candles.

According to the manufacturer, the odor-destroying property of Febreze is based on cyclodextrins , the molecular structure of which contains a cavity in which those molecules that belong to odor-causing substances are enclosed, so that they can no longer be perceived by humans. In 2002, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) responded to claims that Febreze had harmful effects on pets with a product test. The allegations have not been confirmed; Febreze was awarded a seal of the organization.
