Federal Correctional Institution, Texarkana

The Federal Correctional Institution, Texarkana (FCI Texarkana) is a US federal prison located near the city of Texarkana , Texas . It has the low security level and only accommodates men (1,200 on average). It is operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons , an agency of the US Department of Justice . The prison also has a branch for less dangerous inmates (290 on average).

Significant events

In the spring of 2012, Keith Judd, an inmate serving a 17-year sentence for extortion, ran for the 2012 presidential election. He was entered on a register in West Virginia with the Democratic Party . On May 8, he won 41% of the party members in West Virginia - the opposing candidate was Barack Obama .

In 2016, Louis "Lou" Jay Pearlman , businessman and music manager, died in prison. The former manager of the boy bands Backstreet Boys and * NSYNC served a long prison sentence there for fraud .
