Federico Canessi

Federico Canessi (Del Campillo) (born September 25, 1905 in Mexico City , † August 29, 1977 there ) was a Mexican sculptor . He joined the Academia de Artes in 1968 and is one of its founding members.

Life

Canessi studied sculpture at the Antigua Academia de San Carlos and then went to the United States on behalf of the Mexican government . He created numerous, partly monumental sculptures from wood, stone, clay and bronze and reliefs ; For example, he struck a rock face at the Nezahualcóyotl reservoir near Raudales Malpaso ( Chiapas ), a rock relief 25 meters high and 240 meters wide.
