Feeder rod

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A feeder rod is a fishing rod that is mainly used for feeder fishing .

Feeder rods are rods with a rather strong rod blank and (very) fine, replaceable tips made of plastic reinforced with glass or carbon fibers. The strong blank is required to throw the sometimes very heavy feeder baskets (up to approx. 250 g), the fine tip is used to detect bites. When feeding, the assembly is laid on the ground and the line is tightened. If a fish bites, this can be recognized by a trembling or jerking of the tip in the direction of the line (90 ° angle required between the line and the tip). Since a tip that is too fine can also be moved by wind or currents and a bite indication is therefore impossible, there are differently strong interchangeable tips for each rod, with which the rod can be adapted to the weather and water conditions. A distinction is made between light and heavy feeder rods. The former are intended for use in lakes or in the bank area and have a low throwing weight and a continuous action (bending curve). The latter are mainly suitable for flowing waters or long-range fishing. Your action is therefore rather stiff or stable.
