Felbel is a velvety textile with a long pile , which is laid or pressed in one direction, sometimes in different directions, in order to achieve a pattern. Cotton or linen yarn is used for the base fabric and silk , viscose or angora wool for the pile . Earlier, the fabric was often used for the coating of top hats used.
