A field robot is a technical device that usually performs mechanical work in arable farming autonomously. There are field robots that pull weeds or plant seeds. A weed robot should reduce the use of pesticides and / or save labor costs. The currently existing field robots are prototypes. Field robots are probably only economically advantageous on comparatively small areas with special crops or row crops compared to large machines that can be optimized with other forms of smart farming .
