Tumlehed rock paintings
The Tumlehed rock paintings are located on Hällmålningsvägen in Tumlehed, west of Gothenburg in Västra Götalands län in Sweden .
Tumlehed is one of 52 places with rock paintings in Sweden, of which only eleven are so far south (e.g. Allestorp, Medbo). Rock paintings are reminiscent of cave paintings. Most rock carvings in Scandinavia are rock carvings from the Bronze Age , which are mostly found on rock surfaces, while rock carvings ( rock carvings from Ruändan ) are often placed on steep, overhanging rock faces.
Tumlehed's pictures are painted with red iron ocher and show boats, fish, a deer, geometric patterns, an unidentified figure and, at the bottom, probably waves. The choice of motifs suggests that they are pictures of Mesotithic hunters and gatherers or fishermen. When the drawings were made, the valley formed a bay.
