Fenty Beauty is a cosmetics company founded by singer Rihanna in September 2017 that launched a selection of over 40 different skin tones in makeup .

history

In June 2014, Rihanna trademarked her surname Fenty for the use of some products. The singer wanted to use Fenty to create beauty make-up that especially covers dark skin tones. Fenty Beauty was one of the many registered brand names.

In the years before that, she already had a collaboration with MAC Cosmetics and released some perfumes. In 2016 she signed a contract with the luxury goods manufacturer Louis Vuitton Moet Hennesy to jointly found the company Fenty Beauty . In 2017 she opened her own cosmetics line with this brand.

The first products were available for purchase on September 8, 2017. The release took place during New York Fashion Week, where Rihanna was hosting a fashion show for her collaboration with Puma .

In America the products were released in Sephora Shops and in Great Britain in Harvey Nichols Shops. The cosmetic products can be bought in all Sephora shops worldwide and online via the company's official website.

In the first month the company had raised $ 72 million and after 40 days it was $ 100 million. In 2018, the brand had sales of $ 420 million.

With the wide variety of products for many different skin tones, Rihanna and the brand has gained worldwide recognition. The Fenty Beauty advertising campaigns featured several black women such as Slick Woods, Halima Aden and Duckie Thot. Immediately after the products were released, other cosmetics companies advertised several black models, and their products for darker skin tones were also expanded.

Fenty Beauty was selected as one of the 25 Best Invention of 2017 by Time Magazine and was recognized with the WWD Beauty Inc. Award for Largest Cosmetic Publication.
