Sephora is a French cosmetics chain, founded in 1969. With around 300 brands on offer, in addition to the house brand, Sephora offers beauty products such as makeup, skin care , perfume , nail polish and hair care. Sephora has been part of the luxury conglomerate LVMH since 1997 . The Sephora logo is a white “S” shaped flame on a black background. The name comes from the Greek spelling of Zipporah ( Greek Σεπφώρα Sepphōra ), the most beautiful woman of Moses .
Sephora operates more than 1,700 stores in 30 countries worldwide; 2013 sales were estimated at $ 4 billion.
Sephora in Germany
In 2017, Sephora announced that it would be opening branches in numerous German cities, although the beauty chain initially did not have any independent branches, but instead became part of the Galeria Kaufhof department store . The first German store in the Galeria Kaufhof branches opened in Munich , followed by the Rhine-Main area in the Main-Taunus-Zentrum near Frankfurt am Main . In November 2018, Sephora then opened the first self-operated flagship store in Frankfurt am Main on the Zeil . There has been a Sephora store in Cologne since July 4, 2019.
