Ferma ( Greek Φέρμα ( f. Sg. )) Is a coastal village on the Greek island of Crete . The place with 532 inhabitants belongs to the local community Agios Ioannis in the municipality of Ierapetra .

location

Ferma is located on the southeast coast of Crete near the narrowest part of the island, about 10 km east of the city of Ierapetra. Located south of the Thripti Mountains , the village is about 25 m above sea level. It extends largely in a west-east direction along the road from Ierapetra to Makrys Gialos .

history

A fish tank from the end of Roman times is located on the cape west of the beach of Kakia Skala. How exactly it works is not yet clear.

Ferma was recognized in 1961 as a settlement of the then rural municipality of Agios Ioannis . With the municipal reform in 1997 , it was incorporated into Ierapetra.
