Ferronorte route network

Ferronorte ( Ferrovias Norte do Brasil ) was a Brazilian railway company founded by the entrepreneur Olacyr Francisco de Moraes with the aim of connecting Porto Velho and Santarém (Pará) via Cuiabá . Starting from the FEPASA route network in Santa Fé do Sul (São Paulo), this route should then be connected to the port of Santos . The company received a concession for 90 years. The idea of this north-south connection had already been proposed by Euclides da Cunha in 1901. In 1998 the merger of railway companies FERROPASA was founded, in which Ferronorte and Novoeste were merged. In 2006 control was transferred to the transport group América Latina Logística (ALL).
