Fortress troops

Fortress troops are, in the broadest sense, troops that are mainly intended for use in fortresses , forts , bunkers or other permanent fortifications . Some of these are units and associations that already existed during peacetime , others were only put together in the event of mobilization or reinforcement. Today fortress troops are a rarity and mostly replaced by mobile border troops .
