The Petersbörg wetland biotope is a protected, extensive natural monument in the area of the city of Norden in the district of Aurich in Lower Saxony in East Frisia . It bears the number ND AUR 00128.
Description of the area
The extensive natural monument, designated on March 16, 1990, is located in the midst of agricultural areas east of Breepotts Trift Ziegeleistraße in Ostermarsch , a district to the north. The wetland with its large still waters in the center is of artificial origin. It was created by the removal of clay to cover the sea dike and today includes the water surface with the adjacent wet grassland and fallow lowland areas with hollows and pits.
The district placed the area under protection because of its importance as a habitat for adapted animal and plant species in the landscape near the dike, its reference to the history of the landscape (small huts for dyke construction) and as an important contribution to the biotope network system. An inventory of existing plant and animal species is planned
The district sees the entry of nutrients from the adjacent agricultural areas as well as disturbances from adjacent footpaths and cycle paths as particular dangers for the water body.
In order to counteract these dangers, the adjacent agricultural areas, the edge strips on the wetland, should be used extensively as buffer strips. In addition, a maintenance concept should be implemented for the entire area. be worked out
