Fidelen polka

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Fidelen-Polka is a polka by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 26). The work was performed for the first time on April 26, 1846 in the Strüßl Hall, in the building of the Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna.

Remarks

The work was created against the background of the competition between the composer and his father , who was at the zenith of his work at the time and who, at least among the bourgeoisie, ensured that the son hardly found followers. For this reason the son directed his focus to the youth in order to find approval there. Therefore, this polka was also aimed primarily at the youth of that time.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 2 minutes and 10 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
