Fighting Force (also known as "Metal Fist" in Japan) is a video game made by Core Design . It was released in 1997 by Eidos Interactive for the PlayStation .

In contrast to 2D - Beat 'em ups like Double Dragon or Final Fight , in which the direction is usually given (from left to right), you can move more freely in Fighting Force, since the game is held in 3D and even some camera pans offers. The levels are nonetheless linear, as they themselves do not offer any arbitrary branches and the player gradually advances from screen to screen; however, you can sometimes choose between two different routes within the levels. There is a 2-player mode and the possibility of using different weapons, such as steel pipes, pistols or broken glass bottles, by finding them in the (partially destructible) environment or taking them from your opponents in battle.

This was followed by implementations for Nintendo 64 and Microsoft Windows as well as the less successful sequel "Fighting Force 2" for PlayStation and Dreamcast . In part 2 there was also no more multiplayer mode.

A comparable newer game is Final Fight: Streetwise .

The PlayStation version of Fighting Force was re-released in late 2009 for PSP and PS3 on the US PlayStation Network . Since September 21, 2011, the game has also been available on the European PlayStation Store as PSOne Classic.
