File Service Protocol
The File Service Protocol (FSP) is a network protocol for making files public . It can handle a public FTP - Archives are compared. Unlike FTP, FSP uses stateless UDP for the connection between client and server .
Features of FSP
- Robust: FSP can handle network disruptions very well . A running transfer process can be stopped and resumed at any time. If the server fails during a transfer, the transfer can resume after the server returns.
- Simple log: there is no need to have information about the most recently executed commands. For example, there may be extra programs for displaying a directory and downloading a file.
- The resources of the server are only slightly stressed, and many users can access them simultaneously by using a stateless UDP connection
- FSP servers and clients have so far been very little widespread
- The pure data throughput with FSP and a problem-free connection is significantly lower compared to FTP or HTTP
