Bronisław Pieracki (born May 28, 1895 in Gorlice , Galicia , Austria-Hungary , † June 15, 1934 in Warsaw ) was a Polish politician and officer . He fought in the Piłsudski legions during World War I and was drafted into the Austro-Hungarian army in 1917 . Since October 1918 serving in the new Polish Army , he headed the defense of Lemberg in the Polish-Ukrainian War of 1918/1919 .

Pieracki 1926 was one of the organizers of the Maiputsches of Jozef Pilsudski and one of the closest political staff of the marshal in the following period. From 1928 to 1929 he was second deputy chief of staff of the army, 1929 to 1930 deputy minister of the interior, from 1931 minister of the interior of Poland. In this role he was responsible for the fight against the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists ( OUN ). In 1934 he was assassinated by the OUN. His violent death marked the beginning of an even more radical approach by the Sanacja camp against the political opposition in the country. Posthumously Pieracki became a brigadier general appointed.
