Filipa Cavalleri

Filipa Lopes Celestino Soares Cavalleri (born December 6, 1973 in Lisbon ) is a former Portuguese judoka in lightweight, the weight class up to 56 kilograms, from 1998 to 57 kilograms.

Filipa Cavalleri was Portuguese champion nine times in a row from 1991 to 1999. In 1991 she won a silver medal at the European Junior Championships. At the Olympic Games in 1992 she won and lost two fights each and finished ninth in the end. In 1993 she reached the semi-finals at the European Championships, after two defeats she finished fifth. A year later she was fifth again. Her greatest achievement was the bronze medal at the 1995 World Championships . After losing to Brazilian Danielle Zangrando in the last 16 , she won three fights in the round of hope.

At the 1996 Olympic Games, she lost her first fight to Huang Ai-Chun from Taiwan. Four years later, she was eliminated from the first fight at the 2000 Olympic Games , this time against Cinzia Cavazzuti from Italy. 1997 Filipa Cavallerin won her only World Cup tournament in Budapest.
