Valenki ( Russian валенки , German about felt boots ) are traditional Russian winter boots made of felt .

The name Valenki literally means "made by felting". They consist exclusively of felt and are therefore not waterproof, they have no sole or profile. That is why they are often carried with galoshes .

Thanks to their excellent thermal insulation, valenki are one of the few boots that are suitable for temperatures below −30 degrees Celsius.

In the Russian city of Myshkin a valenki boots Museum exists. The Valenki Museum in Moscow is located on the 2nd Koshevnichesky pereulok 12 .
