Final Draft (Engl. As final version or shooting script ) is a word processing program to screenplays to write. It is available for OS X and Windows (also special versions for iOS ). Final Draft is the Anglo-American industry standard for screenwriters and production studios.

The program comes with a large number of templates ( template supplied) extending American US at known television series are based. However, the differences between the templates are relatively small, as deviations from the industry standard are not welcome.
Final Draft has several features to make script writing faster and easier. The program remembers locations for scene headings, times of day and the names of the characters. Using the tab key and keyboard shortcut , you can quickly switch between individual formats, e.g. for action descriptions, character names, dialogues or dialog instructions.
The program also offers some analysis tools, so-called reports . a. Can create dialog excerpts of individual characters.
Alternatives
There are some templates for word processing programs from Office packages on the Internet . Many of them use macros to speed up formatting. Free alternatives are for example the programs Celtx , Trelby or the German application DramaQueen FREE.
