DramaQueen is a German creative software for authors to develop and write scripts , novels , short stories and plays . The program has been available in German and English since 2014 and is available for Windows , Mac OS X and Linux . Due to the design of its user interface , DramaQueen is suitable for both professional writers and self-taught people . DramaQueen uses the file extension .dq .
The software is developed and distributed by DramaQueen GmbH , a spin-off of the Potsdam-Babelsberg Film University .
The program is available in a free basic version and two purchase versions.
In addition to the software, the manufacturer offers an online reference work on the topics of storytelling , dramaturgy and scriptwriting .
use
DramaQueen supports the creative writing process from the idea stage to the final book version. The functions include the areas of material development , formatting / layout, revision and dramaturgical analysis. The software offers a wide range of structuring options (e.g. acts , chapters , turning points , sequences , scenes , steps ) and provides suggestions in the area of storytelling and character creation / development .
In addition to the main text, various working texts can be created ( outline , synopsis , concept / treatment , notes, comments). Figures, locations and narrative threads are automatically recognized and created as elements of the story.
The concept of the software is based on the linking of all texts and elements of a DramaQueen document. With the help of the resulting meta information, u. a. the dramatic structure of the story is graphically visualized and overviews, statistics or figure or location reports are created.
