The Finansinpktionen (short: FI ) is a Swedish administrative authority and the financial supervisory authority of the Kingdom of Sweden . It is based in the Swedish capital Stockholm .

The FI is subordinate to the Swedish Ministry of Finance (Finansdepartementet) and, like the BaFin in Germany , is responsible for the supervision, monitoring, licensing and regulation of the financial market and its market participants.

The FI monitors:

  • 2000 financial companies,
  • 900 foreign financial institutions with branches in Sweden and
  • 300 listed companies.
