Finansdepartementet (Sweden)

The Swedish Ministry of Finance ( Swedish Finansdepartementet ) is a ministry of the Swedish central government . Among other things, it is responsible for the economic policy of the central government, the state budget, financial market policy, taxes, banking, regulation and licensing of the Swedish gaming system and for the economic relations of the central government to the Swedish municipalities , Läns ( Landsting ) and regions as well as to the European Union .

In 2016, the Ministry of Finance had 516 employees, only around 30 of whom are political officials. As is customary in the Swedish political system , the ministry is chaired by several ministers: a finance minister and at the same time head of ministry, a minister for finance and consumers, and a civil minister. In addition, several state secretaries chair the nine departments of the Ministry of Finance. The Ministry is based at Drottninggatan 21 in Stockholm .
