The Drottninggatan (German: Queen Street ) is a central street in Stockholm . It runs from the Rickbron in the Norrmalm district to the observatory in the Vasastaden district . The Drottninggatan runs parallel to Vasagatan and Sveavägen .

history

The street was laid out around 1640 and was initially called Stora Konungsgatan (German: Große Königstraße). It was later renamed Drottninggatan in honor of Queen Christina . Drottninggatan gained notoriety when, in the attack on April 7, 2017, a hijacked truck sped 570 m over the pedestrian zone established there, killing five people.
