Lutheran Church of Lostwood

The First English Free Lutheran Church is an Evangelical Lutheran parish church in the ghost town of Lostwood in Mountrail County in the US state of North Dakota . Although Lostwood no longer exists as a village, the church, which stands on the prairie , is still a parish church for the families of the surrounding farms.

history

Norwegian immigrants formed the Scandia Evangelish (sic!) Lutheran Church in Lostwood in 1913 . The 1916 municipal statutes were still written in Norwegian. Since 1921 the name of the parish has been First English Free Lutheran Church of Lostwood . The church building was consecrated in 1922. The altar and pulpit date from 1942, the church received electrical connections in 1949. Leaded glass windows were added in 1960. In 1989 the congregation joined the Association of Free Lutheran Congregations . Funds from the Preservation North Dakota project enabled the church to be completely renovated in 2002.
