The Fischereihafen-race is a city ring motorcycle race in the port area of the Bremerhaven fishing harbor and after the MotoGP run on the Sachsenring the second largest motorcycle racing event in Germany.

history

The race, which also includes classic motorbikes and sidecars, has been held since 1952 and has been held regularly since 2000 at Whitsun . The course has a length of 2670 meters. The route was changed several times due to major modifications in the port operations and leads in the area of the streets Am Lunedeich , Am Fischbahnhof, Kaperstraße and Hoebelstraße. Since 2011, a new section that has been extended by around 650 meters compared to previous years has been used along the Dorschstrasse.

Nicknames of the fishing port race such as "Heringstopf-Glitsche", "Fischkoppraserei" and "Fischkisterennen" explain a special feature of the race. Crates of fish and bales of straw were used for slips in place of the gravel bed common for racing events of this type in the 1950s to 1970s. Nowadays, mostly straw bales are used to secure the racing area. Thanks to adequate security, the route is recognized as a city course after the annual safety tests.

The Bremerhaven fishing port race is organized by the MSG Weserland motorcycle club, and since 2000 Hinrich ("Hinni") Hinck from Bremervörde has been organizing it with German-Road-Racing GmbH.

The 2018 fishing port race was canceled due to a conflict with the DMSB .

The race did not take place in 2019 either, as the conditions for obtaining the track license could no longer be met by Pentecost.
