The fish Weide 1 was a complex of listed buildings in Eisenach in Thuringia consisting of a late nineteenth Industrial Villa and buildings. The vacant monument was last in a ruinous condition and was demolished in spring 2015.

location

The fish pasture is located in the northeast of the city center of Eisenach not far from the Hörsel , which floods the area during major floods. Immediately to the west was the site of the Eisenach vehicle factory, later BMW and the Eisenach automobile factory .

history

Villa Fischweide 1 and its outbuildings were built around 1870 for the industrialist Heinrich Wilhelm Fleischhauer, who ran his cigar factory in the outbuildings of the property. After cigar production ended, apartments were set up in the outbuildings.

As early as the 1980s, the Eisenach automobile plant made efforts to have the area demolished in order to expand the vehicle manufacturer's premises. This failed because of the resistance of the owner at the time. When she moved to the Federal Republic in 1986 , ownership of the villa fell to the state; Efforts by a long-time resident to acquire the villa failed. In 1992 the villa was registered as a monument. In the meantime it has been returned to the heirs of the previous owner and has been vacant since 2000.

Vandalism, theft and penetration of moisture had severely damaged the building structure since then, ceilings and, most recently, the villa's striking tower had collapsed. In 2013, the municipal housing company Eisenach acquired the approximately 6000 square meter site and planned the demolition of the building to redevelop home-building plots. The demolition of the villa and some outbuildings began in February 2015.
