Five Stanes

The Five Stanes stone circle (also called "Dere Street III" or "Five Stones") is a five-stone circle . It is located near the border with England on the Roman road Dere Street in the Cheviot Hills, near Chattoo, about southeast of Jedburgh in the Scottish Borders in Scotland and is one of six well-preserved stone circles in the Borders.

Five Stanes has a diameter of about 6.1 m and is fenced in in a pasture on a south-facing slope. It consists of five stones, three of which are still in situ . In addition, one of the two reclining figures has been clearly moved from its original position in the circle. The heights of the upright stones (A, B and D) are between 70 and 85 cm. Other stones (F, G and H) lie east of the group and have probably been removed from the circle.
