Fixing oil

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fuser oil is used in larger copiers or digital printing machines . It prevents the toner from sticking to the heated fuser rollers during the fusing process.

Fixing oil must be thermally stable and must not become rancid or even clump together. Furthermore, it must not absorb any humidity and must be storable, since the consumption is extremely low and limited to the smallest losses that stick to the medium to be fixed. Therefore, silicone oils are mostly used as fixing oils .

In the case of newer devices with polymer toner or one-component toner ( laser printer ), the fixing oil can be dispensed with entirely.
