Fyodor Fyodorowitsch Andresen

Fedor Fedorovich Andresen ( Russian Фёдор Фёдорович Андрезен ; * 4. jul. / 16th September  1806 greg. In Reval ; † around 1880 ) was a Russian painter .

Life

Andresen came from a middle-class background in Reval (today: Tallinn) and studied from 1816 to 1827 at the St. Petersburg Academy of Art . He was awarded two silver medals in 1825 and 1826 for his drawings based on nature and a gold medal in 1827 for his program painting “Heroic Deed of a Young Kievan” and was named an official history painter. His special style is particularly the emphasis on the vertical.

After graduating, he worked as a lecturer in painting at the academy, where he was dismissed for bad behavior. In 1836 Andresen entered the Novgorod Derewjanitzki monastery as a monk . A relationship with Dierk Andresen has not been proven.
