Osire refugee camp

The refugee camp Osire (officially English Osire Refugee Settlement ) is a 1992 equipped refugee camps in the region Otjozondjupa in the central northern Namibia, near the main road C30 . According to UNHCR, it is one of the best organized refugee camps in the world.

The refugees in the camp come mainly from Angola , Burundi , Somalia , Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo . In October 2017, around 3,988 people lived there. In 1998 the number of refugees was 20,000, before falling to around 6,500 by 2010. All Angolan refugees have already been repatriated. The closure of the warehouse is planned.

As of June 2019, the number of camp residents is given as 5665.
