Wing pliers

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The wing tong describes two wingers in football who work together to put pressure on the opposing defense .

To be successful with wing pliers, it is necessary to have two high level players playing on the respective wings. They put the defense by passports / edges in the back of the defensive line, by changing wing of the ball and their high level of play under pressure.

In the 1970s Jürgen Grabowski and Bernd Hölzenbein were known as "Frankfurt wing pliers". In recent years, Franck Ribéry and Arjen Robben in particular have played together at Bayern Munich in this way.
