Flags and coats of arms of the provinces of Costa Rica

The flags and coats of arms of the provinces of Costa Rica are the symbol of the seven provinces of the country.

Alajuela				The flag consists of the coat of arms on a white background.
Cartago				The flag of Cartago is a horizontal bicolor in red and blue.
Guanacaste				Horizontal tricolor in blue, white and green with a red triangle on the leech . In addition to the colors of the national flag of Costa Rica , it uses the green of the grass steppes of the province. Red stands for the heart of the inhabitants, their gentleness and happiness, their courage and their masculinity. Blue is the sky, white stands for fertility and peace and green for the tree in the coat of arms of the province, the grassland, the harvest and the work of the farmers and ranchers.
Heredia				The flag was introduced on July 19, 1993. It consists of a vertical tricolor in yellow, white and red and the coat of arms of the province.
Limón				The flag of Limón consists of a horizontal tricolor in green, blue and white.
Puntarenas				The flag was officially introduced on April 7, 1994.
San Jose				The flag shown here was in use for a while but was then abolished. For a long time the province did not have its own flag, which is why a competition was held in 2005 to design a new provincial flag.
