Flaithem Mac Mael Gaimrid (d. 1058) was an Irish poet who lived in the first half of the 11th century .

Life

Extremely little is known about the life of Flaithem Mac Mael Gaimrid. As can be seen from his Irish name , he was the son of Mael Gimrid . He appears in the annals of Inisfallen , from which it can be inferred that he held the important office of Ollamh Érenn (Supreme Bard) in Ireland.

It also tells us that he died in 1058 and found his final resting place in Ard Ferta Brénainn .

His predecessor as Ollamh Érenn was Ceaunfaeladh et al. Cuill , who had died in 1048. Cellach húa Rúanada was his successor .
