Flak Corps e.g. V.
The Flakorps z. b. V. was a major combat unit of the German Air Force in World War II .
On April 2, 1945, the Flak Corps was set up from the command staff of the dissolved Luftgaukommando VI . b. V. (for special use) initially for the planned period of three months. The commanding general of the corps on that day was General of the anti-aircraft cartillery August Schmidt . This command was to take over the command of all anti-aircraft forces still in combat in the northwest area. Specific documents about the associations subordinate to it cannot be proven beyond doubt due to the last weeks of the war. However, the information that has emerged so far suggests that the corps has both the
- 2nd Flak Brigade as well as the
- 16th Flak Brigade
have been subject to. However, the flak corps itself was not granted a long life, as it was disbanded on April 16, 1945, after only 15 days. This was due to the fact that the leadership of the flak forces in the north-western region of the Reich had been transferred from that day to the 14th Flak Division under the command of Major General Adolf Gerlach .
