The General der Flakartillerie Süd was an agency of the German Air Force during the Second World War at corps level , which was subordinate to Luftflotte 2 . The establishment took place on July 25, 1943. On April 6, 1944 the office was closed and converted into the command staff of the 25th Flak Division . The only commanding general was the General der Flieger Maximilian von Pohl with a command post in Bologna ( Italy ). The General Staff was responsible for the operational management of all flak units stationed in this area.

The 3rd Flak Brigade and the 22nd Flak Brigade were subordinate to the agency . The latter was particularly noticeable during the Allied invasion of Sicily with 169 aircraft kills. The 3rd Flak Brigade was then involved in the Allied landings on the coast at Anzio and Nettuno to push in the bridgehead formed there and prevent an outbreak, while the 22nd Flak Brigade was deployed on the Cassino Front .
