Flavius Apion II.
Flavius Apion (II.) († probably between 577 and 579) was a high- ranking late Roman military and civil servant.
Flavius Apion came from the wealthy and influential Apions family from Egypt . His father was Flavius Strategius, the son of Flavius Apion I ; his son was also named Flavius Apion .
Flavius Apion held the prestigious consulate in 539 . In 547/48 he was appointed Patricius and was dux Thebaidis from 548 to 550 . During this time, military commanders of the Egyptian Thebes were honored with the title of magister militum , but this is only documented for Apion in the year 556. In addition to his state offices, Apion was one of the leading landowners in his Egyptian homeland and was also well respected by the Constantinople senators . With his activity, the influence of the Apions reached a climax.
