Flavius Apion III.
Flavius Apion (III.) († around 620) was a late Roman magnate and Patricius .
Flavius Apion came from the wealthy and influential Apions family from Egypt . He appears in the sources, especially the papyri from the archive of the Apions in Oxyrhynchos , 593 for the first time and probably acted as head of the family. His mother's name was Flavia Praeiecta , he himself was one of the heirs of Flavius Apion II.
He appears in two letters from Pope Gregory and served as an honorary consulate . He was awarded the title of Patricius by the Emperor Phocas . With the invasion of Egypt by the Sassanids , the traces of the family are lost. Maybe they retired to Constantinople .
